Laboratory for Building Performance Simulation

BME Building K; H-1111 Budapest, Műegyetem rakpart 3, K 230

Equipment

The Laboratory of Building Performance Simulation works in the research fields of energy efficiency in buildings, heating ventilation and air-conditioning systems, sustainability, operational energy and carbon assessment, analysis of adaptability for climate change, health and well-being of occupants in building, indoor environmental quality, building physics, building energetics, renewable energy sources and building refurbishment. We use advanced energy performance simulation technology for assessment and optimization of buildings' energy efficiency and carbon footprint. The staff consists of two PhD colleagues, PhD students, MSc and BSc students. We offer services in the fields of energy efficiency of buildings, carbon analysis, occupant comfort and feasibility studies for low and zero carbon technologies.

Potential purposes of experimentation

The purpose of the conducted research is to foster the energy transition, to develop more energy efficient buildings, tackle climate change from the aspect of the built environment, promote the usage of renewable energy sources, develop smart buildings and communities, be part of the renovation wave in EU, and digitize the building sector by introducing simulation for the analysis of building life cycle's operational energy and carbon emissions.
